Asus B660M-Plus

So, I have to admit to not having done my research very well and bought a K processor with a B660M motherboard - however its an Asus B660M-Plus D4 and it does have a load of menu options for overclocking, it just won't let me enter values above stock, e.g. the most I can enter for P-core mulitplier is 49, but it will let me set all cores to 49 / 6cores to 49, but then when I boot in to windows and run a CPU intensive task, it just sits there at 4.5. Similarly the ecores I can set to 40 all core but in use the max it goes to is 34 all core.

Ring / cache I can set to e.g. 43 and it does OC to that in windows. VCore adjustments also take hold.

So I'm a bit confused by the Asus bios as it appears to offer somewhat limited OC options, but they don't seem to stick in windows.

Now more than ever it’s important to get outside and slow down. Let the Volvo XC90 do the heavy lifting with up to 5,000 lbs towing capacity.

There is no CPU overclocking on B660. You can enter a higher multiplier like 49 in BIOS, but it will not override the stock behaviour.

(Technically there are 1-2 B660 boards which support BCLK overclocking, but that is a niche feature, only for non-K CPU's)

I would recommend returning the B660 board and getting a cheap Z690 board.

Can't return it as it's already all set up, but my daughter is also due an upgrade so might foist a non K CPU on her and buy myself a new board lol

So if I buy a processor outside the K series, will the B660 M PLUS D4 give me the option to change that settings?

Nope, B boards don't support overclocking
